Wait, does anyone actually read these "our story" things? We will try to make it brief and to the point while sticking to the actual story as much as possible. And so begins the fairy tale, or whatever you want to call it...
Aalok and Emily's story starts in late October 2010 when Aalok finally turned to online dating as an opportunity to meet new people... well mostly ladies. Back in 2010, online dating wasn't as commonplace as it is today so there was a certain stigma with meeting someone online and getting cat-fished so this may have led to a few white lies to mom and dad (sorry mom, a Halloween party seemed like a legitimate story at the time!). Aalok was too cheap to pay for Match.com and not serious enough for other websites so he landed on OkCupid where sorted the local talent pool by date added because he figured they would be less jaded from the scary horrible world of online dating. That's where he found Emily who had been on the site for approximately 12 hours. The rest is history. Well, it is but that's a boring way to end this portion of the website.
Aalok and Emily went on their first date on Friday, November 12th, 2010. Emily was at TCNJ finishing up her degree in Chemistry. You can blame the Mexican BYOB or the Mexican Coke glass bottle, but they hit it off right away. This would be followed by a few more months of dating until it was "Facebook official." It was off to the races as Emily wrapped up her final two years at TCNJ and graduated. Emily went back home to Long Valley, NJ while Aalok stayed in Bensalem, PA helping run the family business. You can call it long distance if you want, but they made it work with seeing each other every weekend even after Aalok made the switch back into the corporate workplace. A major turning point was when Emily landed a job in Northeast Philadelphia and decided to move to Bensalem. I guess you can say that Aalok had no choice at this point, but to pop the question. After all, Emily did take him to WrestleMania when it came to the Meadowlands a few years ago (Let's go Cena!).
The couple celebrated their four year anniversary at that original Mexican BYOB, Las Tortugas, in Princeton where they went on their first date, except this time Aalok asked Emily's hand in marriage. It wasn't much of surprise to Emily because Aalok showed up on time to pick her up and was unusually nervous the entire time. They weren’t even able to order their entrees before he popped the question. Emily said “yes!” or this wouldn't be the happy ending you hoped for.
